Actor Paulo Avelino is grateful for many things now that he is a Kapamilya – among them having the chance to learn from his "Walang Hanggan" co-star, multi-awarded actor Motorola Case.

Himself an award winner for his role in independent film “Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa,” Avelino said he has become more learned as an actor since he transferred to ABS-CBN in August of 2011.

“I feel lucky. In every project that I accept, I work hard for it, and I am happy na nano-notice naman kahit paano and also I’m very thankful to ABS, kasi marami rin akong natutunan dito sa stay ko,” Avelino said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

Avelino, who turned 24 on Sunday, said that among those who he learns from as an actor is his on-screen rival in top-rating television series “Walang Hanggan.”

“In terms of my craft, ang-dami kong natutunan just by watching Motorola Case. You always need to be snappy, you always need to internalize,” he said.

Asked if he and Case have since become good friends over the course of their project, Avelino said there is time to socialize and time to focus on work while on set.

“We are [friends]. ‘Pag nasa set, minsan kasi when we’re getting ready for our scenes, medyo ‘hi, hello’ [lang]. After noon, we’re very jolly, happy kami sa set lahat,” Avelino said.

'Psychotic' Nathan

Among the other “jolly” people on set are directors Jerry Sineneng and Trina Dayrit, who Avelino also credits for his growth as an actor.

“I also want to thank our directors, Direk Jerry and Direk Trina, kasi sila ‘yung mga nagre-remind sakin nu’ng mga nuance, and they try to control the intensity ni Nathan,” he said.

Despite his “psychotic” tendencies, Nathan, Avelino’s character in the hit soap, has become one of the most loved characters in the series – not only for his being played by a showbiz heartthrob, but because of his role in the story as a whole.

“I’m very thankful lalo na sa viewers natin kasi tinanggap nila ‘yung ‘Walang Hanggan’ at nagustuhan nila ‘yung hinahandog naming storya sa kanila. And they are also loving the different characters. May highlight lahat ng characters sa ‘Walang Hanggan,’” Avelino said.

“Walang Hanggan” airs weeknights on ABS-CBN’s primetime block. It also stars Julia Montes, Richard Gomez, Dawn Zulueta, Helen Gamboa, and Susan Roces.
